Baobab

In Africa there was a huge Baobab tree known as the post office. It was at least 1500 years old and just recently it was there and then it wasn’t. Trees of Life for animals, humans, insects, some of of the huge Baobab trees are 2,000 years old and they’re succumbing to draught. I’ve read too, that the root system of Baobabs are larger than their canopies, so they’re upside down. Additonally, I’ve read that they’re really succulents and can be uprooted and replanted 2 years later.

As I finished this piece I started singing Paul Simon’s song Black as Night….”Joseph’s face was as black as night, and the pale yellow moon shone in his eyes…….And he walked his days under African skies….”
